After five years behind the scenes as a sought-after collaborator, writing, producing, and lending his voice to projects with some of Indonesia’s most acclaimed artists, Jugo Djarot returns to the spotlight with a renewed sound.
ALTAR is a sonic portrait of the bittersweet nature of mundane life. It reflects on the quiet, often unspoken emotions that shape our daily experiences. Blending ballad-style songwriting with the richness of soul and the atmospheric textures of contemporary synth-based music, the EP creates a space where vulnerability, nostalgia, and introspection coexist.
The EP moves through themes such as trauma bonding, the thrill and guilt of forbidden desires, and the slow process of accepting what feels broken within ourselves. It gives voice to stories rarely told, particularly for those with uncommon upbringings. Despite the emotional depth of its subject matter, the music remains tender and reflective rather than heavy.
Produced in collaboration with Sinatrya Dharaka of Thee Marloes, ALTAR also features contributions from Tommy Satwick (Thee Marloes), Alit Djarot (Mafia Pemantik Qolbu), Yuyi Trirachma, and Sinatrya Dharaka himself, each bringing their own color to the record.
